North American visit of Kamlesh D. Patel, part III

December 2015, Monroe ashram, New Jersey, USA

This is a continuation of the report of Master’s stay at the Monroe Ashram.

Absolute merger

This concept of absolute merger is still a relative term. You see we are receiving messages from Babuji. There are also the entities of Lalaji and Chariji who are separate and yet they are united in some way. So what is merger actually? Merger is when you dissolve into each other, ideologically, emotionally, in every way. Babuji says that even when mistakes are made, the wiser ones try to see the brighter side of the situation. We do the exact opposite. We make comments even about the Master making mistakes. We don’t see beyond the mundane.

At times, the Master also tries to act wrongly, only to impress upon our minds what must not be done.

The Heart Region covers everything

Kamlesh bhai was playing the audio recording of Babuji Maharaj recorded on the 8th of December 1971, in which he describes the various regions that the seeker must pass through in the journey towards the Ultimate. Commenting on this message, he said, “The regions are represented in the circle. Outermost is the Heart Region then you move towards mind region and journey towards the Centre.

“With this in mind, we can say that Heart Region covers everything, from top to bottom, including the Centre. All these are compressed in the heart. It is all within the Heart. Even from the Brighter World Babuji mentions that the Centre is within the Heart.

“Though we do mention it is here (indicating the location of point 13 at the back of the head), that is from a different perspective. If you draw the terrain of a mountain on paper, you represent it in circle. It is not easy to understand because you are representing a 3D visualisation in 2D. It is like that. The heart is the Centre and everything is connected to it.

“When you work on the Heart, automatically the work gets done in the other regions. The work is done on the other points and dimensions also. So focus only on the heart. That takes care of everything.”

His Master’s voice

One morning, as abhyasis were huddled around Kamlesh bhai, he played some audio recordings of Babuji. Among the abhyasis was a brother who heard Babuji’s voice after a span of almost forty years. It was a profoundly emotional moment for the brother. Kamlesh bhai played several more recordings and also gifted the brother a USB stick with all the recordings for him to take back with him.

The domino effect of desires

In the Gita, Lord Krishna mentions, “Desires lead to passion. When desires are unfulfilled, this leads to anger. As a result it destabilises our mind. Consciousness is distorted. Such a person destroys himself. Now how do you explain this in the Sahaj Marg way?

“When desires are not fulfilled, it creates restlessness at point 1. When this happens again and again, your heart becomes heavy. Grossness then evaporates to the second point. Now you are affecting it with restlessness. If you repeatedly harbour this restlessness, you become angry. Now the effect evaporates to the third point. The third point is all about emotions. When you continuously remain in the state of anger it creates fear in your heart. Fear is the negative quality of the fourth point. In order to mask this fear you start hallucinating. You start to justify your actions. Which is the sign of the fifth point. When you try to justify all of this, it affects your ego. You harden yourself. A person who is always fearful, has greater ego. If affects the regions further up. This is how we destroy ourselves.

“Now look at the other scenario. You have a lot of contentment in your heart: we are not talking about fulfilling of desires here, we are talking of absolute contentment. That feeling also evaporates to the second point, the Christ point. A person who is in that state of peace can only radiate love. Where is that? The third point. A person with a lot of love has immense courage. Where is that? The fourth point. And then your vision is so clear. You are no longer hallucinating. There is absolute clarity. That’s the quality o the fifth point.

“Now, further, you are grateful to the Lord. These stages are what we feel in the Cosmic Region – Prapanna, Prapanna-prabhu and Prabhu. All these stages are all about surrender, sharanagati. It is about how we dissolve ourselves in the Lord where only He remains. So this is the Sahaj Marg way, you see?”

Turn your enemies into friends

Kamlesh bhai was reading a letter from Lalalji. This letter was about a person who was going through a lot of trouble in the office. Lalaji went to the root of the problem and gave some very valuable guidance to the abhyasi and the nuggets of wisdom shared by Lalaji will be featured in the upcoming book, The Compete Works of Ram Chandra of Fatehgarh volume III. Here are some tips from the letter:

  • Stubbornness doesn’t work when we are a part of a society. If others thoughts and thinking do not match yours, have patience. Control your mind. Keep quiet. Consider yourself as insignificant and guilty.
  • Technique suggested to win the heart:

Treat the person with whom you are having differences or a fight as your best friend and well-wisher. Sit alone and, without fail, meditate with the thought that such-and-such a person is my friend and well-wisher. Imagine his form, and think that all negative thoughts about you are leaving and thoughts of your welfare are infused in him.

Whenever you get time to go near him, fix your eyes on his face. When you exhale, have the thought that you are exhaling particles of love and affection and they are entering into his heart. While inhaling, make this thought that all negative and evil thoughts are coming into you and leaving you from the side. This practice is beneficial and within a few days the tide will turn. This practice will turn hate to love.

Apologise proactively

Keeping quiet when we make a mistake is a silly thing. We have to become proactive and apologise to whomever we have hurt, or whenever we thought we were better than them. If you keep quiet you will be more misunderstood. Be proactive when it comes to apologies.

Ignorance or simplicity

Kamlesh bhai shared a joke:

“Once there was a villager walking with his goat held up on his shoulders. A man driving a chariot stopped and offered him a ride. The villager gladly accepted. Upon boarding the cart he continued to carry the goat on his shoulders. When asked why he wouldn’t put it down, he replied ‘I don’t want to burden the horse, you see. It’s already carrying me!’”

Incomplete sittings

“Sometimes I play tricks. I do not complete a sitting. Instead I pray during the sitting that, ‘If the abhyasi sits afterwards at home for meditation, he will get the benefit of the remainder of the sitting.’

“If he sits, he will be so mesmerised by how the sitting is so different today. It will boost his confidence level. Babuji used to remark sometimes ‘Ghar jaake dekhna,’ meaning ‘Observe when you go home.” You will see the beauty of my system: this is what he meant. Now I understood the trick! He had left the work incomplete in some fashion. It becomes complete when you make the effort and meditate at home. Then you will see the difference and you will be motivated to do more based on the experience. But those who miss out will miss out completely. Today morning’s sitting was like that.”

Permanent attitude

“The permanent attitude we should adopt, wherever we meditate, either alone, with a preceptor or at a bhandara is, ‘Whatever be Your will and wish my Master, I am open to receive it. That’s all.’ This should become permanent.

“Also when you sit, you should never sit with a fixed time frame in mind, that, “I will sit for thirty minutes or fifty minutes.” There should be no thought fixation that I will sit only for so much time.”

Sittings with Chariji

“When we used to conduct sittings together, with me sitting next to him, I would say ‘That’s all’ and almost at the same time, as if in chorus, he would also say ‘That’s all’.

“Sometimes I would work and Chariji would observe. Sometimes we would work together. I would transmit and he would be cleaning or vice versa. It was like a Jugalbandi.

“Now it is happening differently. When I give sittings, I clean, clean and clean all through the sitting. I leave it to Them to do the rest! I create the way and they shower the Grace.”
