Transportation Circular

By Air
  • Chennai airport is closest to the venue, at a distance of 54 kilometres.
  • Assistance is being organized from the 19th of July to transport abhyasis from Chennai airport to the venue. On arrival, look out for the volunteers with SRCM armbands near the baggage claim area.
  • Volunteers will help abhyasis with prepaid and fixed-price taxis, which are available at Chennai airport.
  • Tirupati airport may also be considered. It is about 90 km from the venue, but since it is a clear highway the travel time is similar. Abhyasis arriving there may avail airport taxis on their own.
By Train
  • Adequate transportation arrangements to Vrindavan from Chennai Central railway station have been made from the 19th of July. Please be on the lookout for volunteers with ‘Sahaj Marg’ signboards at the station. The welcome booth is located near Platforms 9 and 10.
  • The venue is about 55 km from Chennai Central. Options for travel include:
    • Local trains from Chennai Central to Tiruvallur Junction, and shuttle buses from Tiruvallur Junction to Vrindavan ashram,
    • A few direct buses from Chennai Central to Vrindavan are also planned from the 20th through to the 23rd of July,
    • Volunteers will also help with prepaid and fixed-price taxis, which are available at Chennai Central.
  • Abhyasis arriving at Egmore railway station may look out for volunteers with signboards from the 19th of July.
  • Options for travel include:
    • A few direct buses from Egmore to Vrindavan are being planned from the 21st through to the 23rd of July, based on the information received.
      • Volunteers will assist abhyasis with prepaid and fixed-price taxis, which are available at Egmore.
  • Overseas delegates may kindly note that train tickets between cities in India can be booked online at http://www.irctc.co.in and payment made with international credit cards.

Special permission has been granted by Indian Railways for the following ten trains to stop at Tiruvallur station:

By Bus
  • Abhyasis reaching Chennai by bus need to take Tiruttani/Tiruvallur bound buses (No. 596A) from the CMBT (Koyembedu) bus stop to reach Kosavan Palayam bus stop, National Highway 716 (around 2.5 km away). If informed in advance, pick-up buses will be arranged to the venue.
Additional Services
  • Delegates travelling by bus/public transport should reach Sri Venkateswara Institute of Science and Technology on the Tiruttani Highway in Tiruvallur. Shuttle services between the highway and the venue, which is 500 metres away, will be available.
  • For local commuting, taxis will be available at the venue for hire on a full-day basis or on trip basis.
Return Journey
  • Adequate transportation arrangements from Vrindavan ashram to Chennai Central station have been made from the 25th of July.
    • Shuttle buses from Vrindavan to Tiruvallur station are being arranged. Abhyasis can then take local trains to Chennai Central from Tiruvallur station.
    • As an additional option, direct buses to Chennai Central and Egmore stations are also being arranged.
  • Abhyasis are urged to reach transportation counters 5 hours prior to their actual train or flight departure time.
  • Local taxis are also available for hire at Vrindavan ashram.
  • Abhyasis flying out of Chennai or Tirupati airports can contact the local taxi counter.
  • Please contact transportation counters at Vrindavan ashram for any others requests.
