North American Tour, Part 9

Friday, 26th of June 2015, Monroe meditation centre

During an informal conversation, Kamlesh bhai touched upon a few topics:

Physical proximity: abhyasi should never be satisfied with closeness to Master on the physical plane. He used the word ‘proximity’ not ‘closeness’.

Resonance: when we are in deep sleep, our subtle bodies are in resonance with each other. If you put children of the same age together, they will resonate with each other. If a child and a saint are put together, there vibratory level will be different.

Discrimination: when there is smoke in the room, we run to open the windows. But if we take out the source of the smoke, there will be no more smoke. So cut it from the base. Most of the time we are busy removing the effects instead of the cause. That is why discrimination is very important. It allows us to remove what is not helping our evolution. The sense of discrimination should be so refined that we are able to differentiate between ‘cause’ and ‘effect’.

Abhyasis asked questions:

Q: How to give up inner possessions?

KDP: Give them up all at once. If you try to give them up one by one, you will get stuck between likes and dislikes. So, the sense of discrimination is very important.

Q: When we are at work, certain interactions happen and our condition is disturbed or for some reason we become aggravated. How to handle that?

KDP: Observe. Try not to participate in it. If you have to participate, don’t get absorbed in it.

Q: When we run the Heartfulness program, should we show our Masters’ pictures?

KDP: The Heartfulness program is sponsored by SMSF. We don’t have anything to hide. The source of Heartfulness is Sahaj Marg.

Q: Do asanas (Yogic postures) help us in spirituality?

KDP: No. They only help to keep the body fit.

Q: It is said in our literature that character formation is the abhyasi’s responsibility, but I feel that when I dive deep during meditation there are pearls that are available to help me form my character. So it is our responsibility as abhyasis, but Master himself provides the tools for character formation.

KDP: Yes, but we need to utilise those tools. That is why it is important to ‘resolve’, using sankalpa, to change.

Q: So the statement that we cannot change a person’s nature is true?

KDP: Yes, it is true because you cannot really change anyone. Yet it is also false because that person can change himself or herself by making the Will to change.

Q: There are thirteen points. Does our soul travel through those points?

KDP: The soul does not travel. However the vibratory level changes. Take, for example, a light bulb with thirteen glass lampshades surrounding it. If you keep breaking the glasses, one by one, you will see that the brightness of light will change. At the end you will see clear light.

During another informal conversation, an abhyasi asked, “How will the mutation affect us. It is scary to imagine how will we look when the mutation happens. The same abhyasi asked about the repeated time warnings we get from Babuji Maharaj in the Whispers. Kamlesh bhai said that the warning is because Babuji does not want us to run out of time. Regarding the mutation, he said not to worry, as it is a good thing that will happen. We should be worried about the time frame.

In the morning, Kamlesh Bhai visited the home of one of the abhyasis living close to the meditation centre. He conducted satsangh, had lunch and spent time in conversations with abhyasis. One of the abhyasis brought up the article ‘Beyond Self’ that had been circulated and remarked that it was a significant contribution to the knowledge in the Mission.

A sister asked, “Master, you said there is a point for guilt.” He asked, “Do you feel guilty?” and the sister answered, “Yes, Master, I do quite often.” So he answered, “Well then, go ahead and find it,” and the group erupted into laughter. But then he mentioned, “It is not a joke. I want you to find it.”

Some of the members from a team doing research on the effects of meditation were also present. The conversation was very stimulating, with Kamlesh bhai handling the intricate questions of intellectual depth with masterly expertise and brevity. At one point a brother mentioned that in some specific cases, epileptics have surreal experiences that seem to resemble deep religious experiences. Kamlesh bhai said, “That is correct. However as Lalaji Saheb has mentioned, these are pashaanstithi (stone like) conditions. They can be induced artificially and do not have any value. Through meditation we try to get to have 360-degree complete awareness of the experience.”

The Brighter World is here and now

Another brother spoke about the book by Drunvalo Melchizedek on sacred geometry, The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life. He commented about the various worlds mentioned in the book. Kamlesh bhai responded, “The Brighter World we refer to is not a different world. It is a separate dimension. It is here right now but we are unable to access it. When we are in deep meditation, where do we go?”

A brother from the research team spoke about scientists who have tried to access other dimensions and come close but were blocked, possibly due to the material nature of the approach. Kamlesh bhai said that, “The only way is through the heart.” The brother replied, “Then probably I am going down the wrong path.” Kamlesh bhai encouragingly said, “ No, keep going and the path will teach you.”

Be sensitive and aware

One brother asked, “Master, I do not understand the points. Do I really need to worry about it?” His response was a symphony in love and dedication. He said, “Well, yes and no. If you are one hundred percent surrendered to the Master, then you don’t need to.” Then he paused, and continued, “If you take one hundred people in a group, you will see that none of them are one hundred percent surrendered.” A small silence ensued and a brother remarked, “Well then, we have our answer.”

Kamlesh bhai said, “You know, when you have a child, and she is not able to learn the alphabet, you say, “It is okay, don’t worry,” but do you really mean it? Are you really okay? Through this one beautiful line Kamlesh bhai clarified for all present the quintessential need to be sensitive and cognizant.

Then, to add motivation he went on to narrate an incident: “You know in Kolkata, Master used to stay at brother Ajay Bhatter’s home. One evening, there was a ghazal session. The program was on and I was busy observing my condition. As I was observing, I saw Master humming to the tune of the music and his fingers playing the rhythm. Suddenly he wafted his hand in the air in line with the music. At that moment, I felt the movement from point 3 to point 4 within me like a laser beam in a straight line. I could feel it. I looked up and saw Master. Our eyes met. My eyes bowed to him in respectful acknowledgement as my hands discretely came together in gratitude. He was at a distance. His eyes acknowledged mine, and he nodded and I bowed. That was it – an affirmation of the work done. You see the beauty of our system and how little we need to say.” There was silence and eyes were moist. It was a profound moment of love in its many manifestations.

Kamlesh bhai thanked the abhyasis and left for home. In this brief time, he showed how to be the perfect guest. He was very cordial and warm to the hosts. He was perfectly at ease and his spontaneity was a lesson in naturalness.

Study Reality at Dawn

An abhyasi asked, “How to control our thoughts?” Kamlesh bhai said, “Let them come. Don’t fight with them.” He recommended that we study Reality at Dawn by Babuji Maharaj. He said this book has the solutions to any problems we may have.

Kamlesh bhai said that when a tree grows big nothing underneath it survives. Similarly, our desire for the Highest should grow so big that no obstacle can survive. We have to pray to arrive at that stage.

Our efforts in the material world should be minimal – enough to support our spiritual life. We have to go crazy for spirituality. Where are your tears on the pillow? Sahaj Marg is easy. God is also easy, but we want to approach God with a lot of luxury; nothing wrong, is it, this and That too! In Sahaj Marg there is a lot that is being offered beyond merger.
