International Day of Yoga, 21st June 2015

Dear sisters and brothers,

We are happy to announce that the countdown has begun! We are one hundred days away from the first commemoration of the International Day of Yoga, announced by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2014.

On this momentous occasion, Shri Ram Chandra Mission is happy to announce its partnership with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) for India and Bhutan, to celebrate this event together and to raise awareness of the benefits of yoga and meditation for all humanity.

2015 is the tenth anniversary of Shri Ram Chandra Mission’s partnership with the United Nations, and it is heartening to see how this partnership is unfolding. The UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon, has mentioned the "holistic benefits" of yoga, and also that, "Yoga can bring communities together in an inclusive manner that generates respect.” Our Mission can play an active part in this global vision, and as Chariji Maharaj has said, “We must work together in order to strengthen the Mission by our every thought, word and deed. Only thus can we make it capable of serving the spiritual needs of humanity, for which purpose alone He created the Mission.”

More details will follow on how we will commemorate this day, and how you can involve your families and friends in the activities planned.
